COURSE DESCRIPTION

INTERMEDIATE-LEVEL

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Design characters that actually work in a TV pipeline. This intermediate-level course is built for artists ready to push beyond solid drawings into intentional, production-ready design.

This 10-hour intensive blends lecture, live demos, guest artist sessions, and real-time feedback. Students will explore how to create appealing, functional characters that hold up across poses, expressions, and episodic production demands, while developing a stronger point of view in their design work along the way.

  • Core principles of character design for TV animation (appeal, shape language, clarity, and function)

  • Designing for consistency across a production pipeline

  • Live demos and design breakdowns

  • Guest speaker sessions featuring working professionals sharing their process and career insights

  • Live reviews and actionable feedback
