We’re closing out BNA’s big fundraising weekend with an in-person hang at The Roguelike Tavern — a local watering hole that’s always supported artists and animation folks.
Come grab a drink, meet the BNA fam, and celebrate everything we’ve built together. There will be a silent auction with art to bid on, a raffle, a caricature artist, specialty drinks and more.
Let’s raise a glass to creativity, community, and keeping the lights on!

BNA Stream-a-Thon

Black N Animated has been a safe space and community hub for Black creatives in animation for years. Right now, these spaces are at risk — without support, programs may have to pause, social/professional opportunities could disappear, and the community we’ve built could fracture.
On Saturday, Oct 11 we’re coming together for a 12-hour live Stream-a-Thon — some incredible friends of BNA will draw, chat, and share their work to help keep BNA alive.

The BNA Feature Story Workshop is an in-person, 8-week program for aspiring Feature Story Artists taught by industry luminaries Matt Roberts and Sam Vilfort.

The BNA Feature Story Workshop is open to BNA Members (Pro and Student) who can commit to attending a 90-minute evening class once a week on Wednesdays.
​
Space is limited to 10 MEMBERS ONLY in-person in Los Angeles.

BnA members celebrated Juneteenth with Black N’ Animated, joining fellow Black cartoonists and animation enthusiasts for a day of good food, good company, and the Pacific Ocean breeze.
BnA hosted this event to bring our community together and offer a chance to relax and have fun as passionate fans and workers in animation. This event was open to members and non-members.
BNA Career Summit

BNA’s Career Summit was a two-day event full of targeted programming, community building, networking opportunities,
and education. The summit was open to members of
Black N Animated who were looking to elevate their skills to the next level.
​This event had two tiers, one for general admission and one for professionals. Programming was targeted based on the needs of those groups. General attendees worked on portfolio building and up-leveling their industry knowledge and skills. Professionals worked on networking, leadership, and pitching skills.

On June 20, 2024, Black N Animated celebrated Juneteenth with Walt Disney Animation Studios. We connected with the Black Employees' Network at Walt Disney and had a great time socializing. We also presented the new changes coming to Black N Animated regarding membership for the upcoming year, and so many updates are coming.

Black N Animated hosted our first-ever Black History Month Mixer with The Animation Guild. Over 60 people attended, including industry veterans like Dan Haskett, who designed Belle and Ariel. He spoke about his gratitude for seeing many new faces in animation and emphasized the presence of a next generation of black animators. The event featured a Black History Trivia and our first-ever game, where we debated which animated characters should be considered honorary black. After much discussion, Darwin, Piccolo, Goofy, and Grim Reaper were among those chosen, while Arthur and Optimus Prime were not. Juneteenth BBQ 2023

We celebrated Juneteenth by hosting an outdoor BBQ celebration in Woodland Hills. We had an amazing turnout and ate catering from a local Black-owned BBQ business called Rosie's BBQ. We also hosted our first-ever inaugural Frank Braxton Awards, named after Frank Braxton, Hollywood's first black animator. The Frank Braxton Awards were established to honor our fellow brothers and sisters for their outstanding achievements in animation and have made exemplary contributions to Black Activism. This Juneteenth Celebration was historic, and members at all stages of their animation careers came together to celebrate this day, reminding us of where we have been and are going.

We participated in the Afro-Animation Summit 2023 as a community partner. Our Director, Austin Faber, made his debut appearance on a panel representing Black N Animated. We had the opportunity to connect with numerous BNA members from various parts of the country and the world during this event.

LXIA x BNA Social Mixer 2023

Latinx In Animation and Black N Animated hosted a mixer at Griffith Park. Potluck-style, members from both organizations brought dishes and had a fantastic time connecting and meeting for a potluck outdoors!
