Austin Faber is an Annie Award–nominated filmmaker, storyteller, and community leader whose work spans animation, education, and industry advocacy.
A graduate of Sheridan College’s world-renowned Animation program, Austin has built a career defined by craft, creativity, and a deep commitment to opening doors for others. His stop-motion short film earned 1st place at the Bucharest Short Film Festival, and his work has been featured in the Animation Guild’s Keyframe magazine, underscoring his ability to create work that resonates both critically and artistically.
Austin’s professional journey has taken him through some of the industry’s most influential studios, including Disney Television Animation, Cartoon Network, Netflix, and Nickelodeon—experiences that sharpened his eye for storytelling and deepened his understanding of how artists thrive within (and beyond) studio systems.
Since stepping in as Executive Director of Black N Animated in 2022, Austin spearheaded the organization’s flagship rebrand, and converted the organization into a 501(c)3 non-profit ushering in a new era of visibility and impact for Black animation talent. Under his leadership, BNA has grown into a dynamic hub for mentorship, resources, and community building.
In addition to leading BNA, Austin has nurtured the next generation of artists as a professional mentor at Sheridan College and as a Storyboarding instructor at CGMA, where his thoughtful, rigorous, and approachable teaching style has helped countless students refine their voice and vision.
Austin is known in the industry not only for his artistry but for the way he moves: with clarity, vision, and a knack for connecting people and ideas that might otherwise remain separate. His work reflects both resilience and imagination— qualities he champions in the communities he serves.
